Training activities of In - service traning has been strongly developed in terms of scale, type and quality, in particular:
In terms of training scale: In the period 1981-1990, the Academy organized training course for In - service training with a limited scale, with enrollment of 100 to 200 students per year. Currently, the training scale is very large with more than 12,500 students, accounting for about 50% of the training scale of the school.
In terms of training form: The Academy organizes training courses at school and linked to units and localities (4,5 years). Currently, the Academy organizes other forms of training such as upgrading from College to University (3 years) for cadres who have graduated from Public Security College, training investigators (3 years), training 2nddegree certificate training (2 years).
In terms of major:

+ Criminal investigation;
+ Criminal Sentence Enforcement and Judicial Assistance;
+ State management on security and order;
+ Public Security Advisory and Commander
In terms of training quality: With a large number of experienced lecturers, professional qualifications, professional skills, teaching systems, training facilities are increasingly modern, this has contributed to improving the quality of In-service training at the Academy. In 2009, the PPA has implemented the outcome standards forIn-service training including: Standard of specialization, Standard of Politics, Standard of soft skills (Standard of Commanding Officer, Standard of shooting, Standard of martial arts, Standard of driving, Standard of Information Technology and Foreign Language) contributing to make a strong change in the training quality for In-service training. Students who graduated from the In-service training system have brought into play their knowledge, applied creatively in practical work, and fulfilled their assigned tasks. Many in-service training alumni have really grown up in their work, are assigned to the key positions of the units and localities.
