Under agreement of the Ministry
of Public Security, between the date of 23rd – 28th, April, 2012, the PPA
police officer delegation led by Major General, Prof.Dr Nguyen Huy Thuat,
attended “the 1st annual conference: Comparative police education” of Annual
Conference of International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA) at
Antalya, Turkey.
At the opening ceremony, the Minister of Turkey Justice and Police Commander had a speech to welcome participants and high appreciated INTERPA establishment as well as initially proving its role, significance in police training cooperation in international scope.
Besides, at the conference, there were many opinions on model of training at police academies. Most of them are divided into three levels: training course, training improvement course on each special subject, undergraduate training and post-graduate and upgrade-training. Speaking at the conference, Major General, Prof.Dr Nguyen Huy Thuat, head of the PPA delegation, introduced organizational structure and activities of the PPA last time, high appreciated urgent demand of international cooperation on police training, especially in when transnational crime, high-tech crime are more and more serious, dangerous. He also stressed role of police training units in ensuring social order and safety and crime prevention in current situation.
The INTERPA conference was successful, brought useful information for participants and the PPA will considered becoming member of the INTERPA in the coming time.
International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA) was established on 2 July 2011 with the participation of the representatives of 24 Police Education Agencies coming from 22 countries, signed in Dolmabahçe Palace. Subsequently the approval was received from the General Council so that INTERPA Protocol could be signed with Belarus. Thus the number of founder members reached 25 police education agencies from 23 countries.
Within the scope of INTERPA annual ordinary activities, 100 countries and 15 International Agencies were invited to the 1st INTERPA Conference: Comparative Police Education, held in Belek Town of Serik County, the City of Antalya between the dates of 24-27 April 2012.
110 foreigners from 43 countries and 120 Turkish participators participated in the aforementioned conference. 23 countries made presentations; challenges in police education faced by Police Education Agencies and the best solution suggestions were discussed in the conference held in 6 sessions for two days.
