The People's Police
Magazine: 20 years - A glorious way" was the statement of Comrade Major
General, Prof. Dr. Bui Minh Giam - Deputy General Director of the Political
General Department, Ministry of Public Security in the ceremony to celebrate 20
years of publishing and development of the People's Police Magazine on 22nd
March, 2016 in the Tran Duc Truong Hall – PPA.
Attending the ceremony were
Mr. Major General, Prof. Dr. Bui Minh Giam - Deputy General Director of the
Political General Department; representatives of the functional units of the
Ministry of Public Security; Ministry of Information and Communications; the
generations of leaders as well as staffs having worked at the People's Police
Magazine from the early days of establishment. On the side of the PPA were Lieutenant
General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem - President
of the PPA, Editorial Director of the People's Police Magazine together with
all officers of the People's Police Magazine.

At the ceremony, the
participants together reviewed the glorious tradition of 20 years of establishment
and development of the People's Police Magazine. More than 20 years ago, the
People's Police University (now the People's Police Academy) were assigned task
of postgraduate education by the Ministry of Education and Training, the
Ministry of Public Security. This development required a forum to exchange scientific
reasoning and publishing scientific work of the researchers. After rushing
preparation time, overcoming difficulties and challenges, with a strong determination
and firm belief, in May 1996, the Social Order and Safety Magazine (the
predecessor of the People's Police Magazine) was officially published the first
issue. It was highly appreciated by the researchers inside and outside the
University. Over time, through many different names, until 2010, the journal was
entitled with the official name of the People's Police Magazine.

with the Certificate of Merit
After 20 years of establishment and development,
the People's Police have had 5 publications, including: the official People's
Police Magazine, the Special Subject of Criminology, the Traffic Safety, the English
People's Police Magazine monthly released, the Online Electronic Information
Page which daily updated continuously with scope of serving throughout the Departments
and Institutes under the Ministry of Public Security; the Public Security’s Academy
and universities together with Public Security’s units in 63 provinces and
cities nationwide.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General,
Prof. Dr. Bui Minh Giam - Deputy General Director of the Political General
Department praised the People's Police Magazine for achievements during 20 years. Besides, he stated a number of key
tasks to be done in the future. The People's Police Magazine should maintain
political orientation; master all basic
principles of ensuring national security as well as maintaining social order
and safety; additionally, strengthen coordination with local Public Security
units; stick closely the task of protecting security and order in the new
situation; review the practical task of fighting and building the Public
Security forces to gain experience, contributing to the building, supplementation
and completion of the Public Security’s professional theory.
In addition, the People's Police Magazine
need to improve the quality of staff editors, reporters and collaborators;
invest and upgrade the infrastructure – technique, accelerate the IT scientific
application to complete the tasks.

The PPA’s Party Committee,
Board of Directors should strengthen the leadership and management to the
People's Police Magazine. Besides, they need to advise the Party Committee of
the Political General Department, the Party Committee of Central Public
Security, Ministry of Public Security with the appropriate guidelines and
policy, contributing to improving the quality and effectiveness of journalism
in the Public Security forces, including the operation of professional magazines.

On
behalf of the officers of the People's Police Magazine, Lieutenant General,
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem - President
of the PPA, Editorial Director of the People's Police Magazine gave his profound
thanks to the Party Committee of Central Public Security, Ministry of Public
Security, Political General Department and other units for having supported the
Magazine in recent years. He also confirmed that all officials, editors,
reporters would continue to unite, innovate, strive for the success and
development of the People's Police Magazine in the coming time.

Some
impressive events of the People's Police Magazine for 20 years of
establishment and development (01/1996 - 01/2016)

On 23rd October, 1995, the Minister of Culture and Information
issued the license No. 2341/GP for establishment to the Social Safety and
Order Magazine (the predecessor of the People's Police Magazine)

On 20th November, 1995, the President of the People's Police
University decided to establish the editorial board of the Social Safety and
Order Magazine. Mr. Duy Nguyen Hung - former President of the People's Police
University was as Editor in chief.
- In January 1996, the Social Safety and Order Magazine published the 1st edition
- In April 2006, it was renamed to the Science
and Social Order Magazine, led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Yem as editor in chief.
- In 2008, it published the Special Subject
of Criminology.
- In 2010, the Journal was renamed to the
People's Police Magazine
- In 2014, it published Traffic Safety
Special Subject,
the English People's Police Magazine, the Online Electronic Information page
- In 20 years, the Magazine of People's
Police released 301 publications with nearly 5,000 entries.
