Senior Lieutenant General, Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Central Party Committee - Deputy Minister of Public Security attended and directed at the conference.

On May 15th 1968, the Branch of “People’s Police” of the Central Public Security School was separated into the People's Police School - precursor of the People's Police Academy. Over 50 years of building and developing (1968 - 2018), from a Department of People's Police directly under the Central Public Security School with the main task of training primary and intermediate level, which included 5 departments and 3 specialities. Up to now, the Academy has trained 17 undergraduate majors, 5 MA majors and 2 PhD majors, including an MA program cooperated with the US to teach in English.

The Academy has trained more than 50,000 bachelors, more than 4,000 masters, more than 400 PhDs and more than 5,000 officers, leaders of People's Public Security, People's Army and branches of home affairs; in order to effectively manage the State, fight for the protection of national security and ensure the social order and safety. Many of these comrades became high-ranking leaders of the Party and the State; became generals, leaders at all levels of the public security, leading scientist of the Ministry; 19 former students of the Academy have become Heroes of the People's Armed Forces.

With the achieved success, the People's Police Academy has been awarded many noble titles and awards by the Party and State, including 02 second class Military medals (1985, 1996), first class Independence Medal (1998), the Order of Ho Chi Minh (2003), the Order of the First Class Victory (2018), 02 titles “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” (2012, 2018); It is recognized by the Ministry of Public Security as the key institution of higher education in the sector and is striving to become a national key institution of higher education by 2020.

At the conference, delegates reviewed the results of the Academy in education, training and scientific research; At the same time, evaluating the advantages, disadvantages; analyzing the reasons for shortcomings in order to advise the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security to determine the direction and strategy for building the People's Police Academy in the coming time.

1. The work of leading, directing, organizing and advising on the building and development of the People's Police Academy in order to effectively serve the task of protecting the national security and ensuring social order and safety.

2. Cooperation relationship in education, training, building and developing of the People's Police Academy.

3. Achievements in education - training - scientific research of the People's Police Academy in 50 years of building and developing.

4. Logistic work in contributing to meet the requirements of comprehensive reform of education - training.

Within the framework of the conference, the Academy presented the Alumni Association before the public. The Association will be the focal point for generations to keep in touch with the school, teachers, and friends. The association is also a place to share and promote the traditional values of the Academy, promote the cooperation between the Academy and local units, in order to improve the quality of training.

In order to timely serve the propaganda and information on the activities of the Assocation, to meet the needs of all officers, students and alumni, the Academy introduced the Alumni Association Web Portal.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, the Academy also introduced Dang Thi Huyen Tram Scholarship Fund for the purpose of supporting, helping and motivating officers, students, alumni in difficult circumstances such as sickness, fatal illness, accidents, injuries, thereby provoking the tradition of solidarity, sharing and replicating the good qualities of the PPA’s students.

On the same day, the Academy held the inauguration of the Center for Professional Practice and Training. The training center consists of two two-storey buildings with total construction area of 1,875m2. The project consists of 20 rooms designed to simulate the actual situation to serve the police training such as electronic guns,  driving simulation, customs control room, banks, interrogation rooms, crime scene investigation, ward police station, prison model, Buddhist temple model, Catholic Church...

This is a place to organize practice and training to connect theory with practice, to help students face with real situations while in school. The center is a focal point, meaningfully oriented towards celebrating the 50th anniversary of the PPA’s foundation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh recognized and appreciated the dynamic spirit of the Academy in mobilizing the socialization of financial resources while the state budget is very limited, to build many works of great significance to best serve the improvement of training quality of the Academy. Especially the construction and completion of the Center for Professional Practice and Training - the first center in the Public Security Schools. At the same time, Senior Lieutenant General requested the PPA to manage and operate this center effectively in training; applying the theory into practice. Deputy Minister also praised and congratulated the PPA for introducing the "Alumni Association of the Academy", "Dau Thi Huyen Tram scholarship Fund". This shows that, besides innovative and creative thinking to build the modern shool, the Academy has always paid attention to the tradition such as "solidarity", "Whole leaves wrap torn leaves", "Gratitude is the sign of noble souls"...

In order to well implement the development orientations in the coming time, the deputy minister suggested that the PPA should set the objective of education quality as the first priority, ensuring the “output products” to meet the requirements of  practical work. To promoting scientific research on theory and practice of professional works; To clearly identify practical problems so as to propose measures and solutions. To further consolidate and tighten the discipline in education and training; To seriously inspect and evaluate the quality of training, promote self-awareness and activeness of learners; To resolutely eliminate negative phenomena, create a healthy education environment for officers, lecturers and students. To strengthen the management and training of students on the ideology, ethics, life style, discipline, attitude of soldiers of Public Security.
