New contributions of the thesis:

1. Thesis is a systematic and pretty comprehensive study on criminology and crime investigation which related to the application of investigative authority of the Investigation Police Agencies. It contributes to complement and enrichment of the theoretical system of the Criminal Science of Vietnam.

2. On the basis of the scientific argument, the thesis builds the theoretical system for the application of investigative authority of the investigation police agencies in the criminal investigation. For more details, it builds the concepts and criteria for delimitation of the investigating authority, the contents of investigation authority of the investigation police agencies and the order of applying the investigating authority of the investigation police agencies at all levels.

3. Thesis analyzes characteristics of the situation related to the investigative authority of the investigation police agencies in the criminal investigation. Besides, it also analyzes the current status of the organizational structure and officers of the investigation police agencies; surveys and assesses the actual situation of the investigative authority of the investigation police agencies in the criminal investigation. Thesis analyzes the results as well as the limitations, shortcomings and causes of investigative authority of the investigation police agencies in the criminal investigation.

4. Thesis analyzes the forecast of the situation which related to the application of investigative authority of the investigation police agencies in the criminal investigation. It also suggests some solutions to enrich the argument, improve the effectiveness of the investigative authority of the investigation police agencies in criminal investigation.

The results of the thesis contribute to complement and enrichment the theoretical system of investigative authority of the investigation police agencies in the criminal investigation. It is also considered as a reference document for teaching in the police training institutions in general and the People’s Police Academy in particular.
