As a part of framework of the Traffic Police Training at the People’s Police Academy (PPA) and other police training institutions in Vietnam, which is sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) of Japanese Government, on June 8th, the PPA held a scientific workshop “Toward the traffic safety research centre – Initial scientific research outcomes” under the chair of Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Duc Binh, Deputy Director of the PPA.
At the workshop, Major Nguyen Anh Dung, Head of the Transportation Sustainability Research Center (TSRC) reported mid-term result of anlysing the traffic accident data research project. Accordingly, from 2008 to 2010, number of traffic accident has been had increasing trend, especially at the Tet Holiday.

Also, the workshop focused on discussing some “black point” of traffic accident at Tư Liem District, Ha Noi such as Pham Van Dong – Xuan Dinh Crossroad, Pham Van Dong – Co Nhue Crossroad, Pham Hung – Me Tru T-junction and proposed some measures to restrict traffic accident situation there such as installing traffic light, separating strip, road-sign...
Besides, the workshop mapped out direction of work of the TSRC in the second year (from July, 2011 to June, 2012) and gathered opinions on the TSRC’s activities in the coming time.
