Overview of the meeting between the two Academies

The purposes of the meeting were to strengthen the good traditional cooperation between Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Ministry of Security of Laos in general, the People's Police Academy of Vietnam and Laos People's Police Academy in particular; review the process of cooperation between the two Academies; study and implement the practical cooperation activities in accordance with the new situation.

Attending the meeting, as for the Laos People's Police Academy were Major General, Dr. Som Vang Tham ma sit - President of the Academy, the members of Directorate and leaders of the functional units of the Laos PPA. As for the Vietnam People's Police Academy were Lieutenant General, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem, President of the Academy; Major General, Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice President of the Academy and representatives of the functional units. Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Laos Ministry of Security and Departments of Vietnam Ministry of Public Security.

At the meeting, Lieutenant General, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem, President of the Vietnam PPA presented the organizational structure, education and training activities of the Academy and orientation to become the key training institution of the State in 2020. On behalf of the Laos PPA, Major General, Dr. Som Vang Tham ma sit - President of the Academy congratulated the significant achievements of the Vietnam PPA in recent years and introduced a number of key features in the operation of the Laos PPA since its establishment in 2011.

The two Academies exchanged the building of annual bilateral cooperation mechanisms with main contents as follows:

- To exchange experiences in lecturer’s training and recruitment, work of drafting textbook, lesson plans and designing the curriculum; experiences in training some specialties that Laos PPA is not available, such as investigation on economic crimes, environment crimes, hi-tech crimes, etc.

- To exchange the directions, the ways to implement the scientific research activities, exchange of lecturers, in collaboration with local units of the two sides in combining teaching with practical and effective use of good students who graduated from Vietnam PPA to work in Laos.

- To develop the joint post-graduate training program between the two Academies and being awarded the Degree by the two ones.

- To organize the delegation to visit and exchange the experiences annually.

Ending the meeting, the delegation of the Laos PPA had a meeting with the entire Laos students studying at the PPA of Vietnam.

On this occasion, the delegation from Laos PPA also visited and worked with the Department of Police for Hi-tech Crime Prevention and Suppression and paid the courtesy visit to Leader of General Department of Building-up force and the Public Security Agency of Nghe An province.
