In
the framework of cooperation with the British Embassy in Hanoi and the National
Crime Agency (NCA), on February 17th, 2014, the PPA and the British
Embassy in Hanoi held the Opening Ceremony for Anti-money laundering training
workshop at the Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel.
Attending
the Ceremony were Mr. Graham Orr, First Secretary of British Embassy in Vietnam;
Mr. Christ Batt, Regional Adviser, Global Programme against Money Laundering of
UNODC and the experts on anti-money laundering; Colonel Nguyen Van Chieu,
Deputy Director of Department of International Cooperation; Representatives of
Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
As for the PPA were Lieutenant General, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem, President of
the PPA; Representatives of International Cooperation Department and 30 participants
attended the training workshop.

The
training workshop will being conducted last from 17th to 21st
February, 2014 with the participation of 30 officials, teachers and students of
the PPA. During the training process, the experts on anti-money laundering of UNODC
and NCA will directly exchange their practical experience in combating this type
of crime, the reality, causes and measures for the prevention and fight against
money laundering crime in global in general and in Vietnam in particular .

the Opening Ceremony, on behalf of the Directorate of the PPA, Lieutenant
General, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem, President of the Academy confirmed that the international
cooperation in the fight against money laundering crime and in training
capacity to investigate this type of crime were the important duties of the PPA.
In recent years, the Academy increased international cooperation with many
countries, especially the United Kingdom. The President of the PPA appreciated
the cooperation and assistance of the British Embassy in Hanoi and hope that
through this training workshop, officials, teachers and students of the PPA would
get more experience and knowledge in the field of fighting this type of crime in
general to apply flexibly in the situation of Vietnam.

Representative
of the British Embassy in Hanoi expressed his sincere gratitude to the PPA for
the cooperation to hold the training workshop and to facilitate the experts of
NCA and UNODC to conduct the workshop. The lecturers and officials of British Embassy
impressed deeply with the achievements of the PPA and hoped to get the cooperative
opportunities with the Academy in the future.
