On July 23rd, 2019, Mr. Patrick Joseph Harms - Security Attaché of U.S. Embassy Hanoi visited the PPA on the occasion of his new term in Vietnam. Major General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Vice President of the PPA hosted the meeting with the participants of PPA’s functional departments.
At the meeting, Major General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang expressed the honor to welcome and congratulated the newly-appointed Security Attaché. The Vice President wished the new Security Attaché to have a fruitful working term in Vietnam. He also expressed the thankfulness to the U.S. Embassy Hanoi in general, the Security Department - U.S. Embassy and the Security Attaché in particular for the support and cooperation in term of training and enhancing capacity for the Vietnamese People’s Police Force.

Emphasizing the importance of cooperation between law enforcement forces of the two countries, Mr. Vice President affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam considered the experiences of ensuring security and social order were very importance for the police force, therefore exchanging the experiences with the developed countries such as the United States in the field of crime prevention and suppression was a great opportunity for the PPA.
Mr. Dang Xuan Khang also reaffirmed that the PPA would continue to strengthen cooperation with the U.S. Embassy Hanoi by specific cooperation activities. Thereby, the Academy hoped to receive experiences in police education and training, contribute to improving the capacity of police officers, lecturers and cadets of the Academy as well as the Vietnamese People’s Police Force.

Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Patrick Joseph Harms expressed that the U.S. Embassy was interested in developing the cooperative relationship with the PPA and highly appreciated the quality of the Academy's education and training. Mr. Harms also shared that he would try his best to strengthen the cooperation between the US law enforcement forces and the Vietnamese People's Police forces, including the People's Police Academy during his working term.
