Scientific seminar on relationship between lawyer and investigator in process of criminal investigation at PPA

Attending and co-chairing the seminar were Colonel, Dr. Tran Minh Chat, Vice President of the Academy and Dr. Anna Conley, legal professor of the University of Montana; Mr. Michael Turnel, Counselor for Culture and Education of the U.S Embassy in Hanoi.

 

At the seminar, the delegates presented their ideas on the contents relating to the relationship between lawyers and investigators such as: the relationship between both sides in the procedural process, solution to enhancing the relationship in practice. Also, the delegates from the people’s police training centers and the Public Security Department of Hanoi shared their practical experiences and contributed useful opinions to enhance the relationship between lawyers and investigators become effective.

Specially, at the seminar, Dr. Anna Conley has presented and shared useful information about the criminal justice system of the U.S.A, activities of agencies involving in legal process in the U.S.A. Whereby, Dr. Conley gave her comments, evaluations and shared experiences of the Judiciary Agency of the U.S.A in the procedural process to build effective relationships between the investigation agencies and lawyer circle.

 

Besides, at the seminar, Mr. Michael Turner, Counselor for Culture and Education of the U.S Embassy reaffirmed the development of friendly relationship between Vietnam and the U.S.A in general and between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam with the law enforcement agencies of the U.S.A in particular. Specially, after the official visit and meeting between the President of Viet Nam Truong Tan Sang and President the U.S.A Barack Obama, both sides discussed many important cooperation contents including economy, culture and trade… and agreed to continue to promote and improve the relationship between the two countries. With such the spirit, Mr. Turner confirmed that this scientific seminar was not only bring significance on professional knowledge to the law enforcement agencies but also play an important role in building relationship between the two countries, forward to celebrating 20 years anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the U.S.A in 2015.

 

The seminar was held in one day with the participation of 60 delegates from the PPA, the People’s Police College 1, the Public Security Department of Hanoi and other criminal investigation units within the Ministry of Public Security. Closing the seminar, Senior Colonel, Dr. Tran Minh Chat, Vice President of the Academy reconfirmed scientific significance of the seminar and on behalf of leaders of the PPA to express his thank for the cooperation and support provided by the U.S. Embassy and the University of Montana to organize successful the seminar.
