Since 1992, the People's Police Academy has been the first training institution in the public security sector to provide post-graduate training. Till now, the Academy has trained more than 4,000 PhDs and Masters, contributing to the provision of high quality human resources for the country and the police forces of Laos and Cambodia.

The objectives of the postgraduate training program at the PPA are defined as broadening and improving general knowledge, basic and interdisciplinary knowledge, modernizing specialized knowledge, fostering research methodology to educate the police officers with political and ethical qualities, good sense of organization and ability to apply theory in solving problems in combat practice; strengthening the management capacity, leading and directing professional work as well as participating in the training of officers in the armed forces. The dissertations are all urgent issues in the current period.

Over the past 26 years, the post-graduate training has affirmed its important position, becoming an indispensable part of the training activities of the People's Police Academy, being recognized and appreciated by the leaders of Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and Training, General Department of Politics.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem sent the best wishes to the new Masters and PhDs today. At the same time, he stressed that becoming highly qualified police officers, 39 new PhDs and 390 new Masters still had to continue to study, train, constantly improve their spirit and responsibility; To actively study and propose to leaders of all levels issues on policies, measures and solutions to raise the efficiency of professional work.

At the same time, the officers need to contribute more and more to the work of summarizing reality, to build and develop the theory of police, to enrich police science according to the set-out policy of Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security.

At the end of the ceremony, Lieutenant General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem and Major General, Prof. Dr. Do Ngoc Can awarded the certificates to the new PhDs, Masters in 2018. At the same time, they awarded the Certificate of Merit of the President of the Academy to 19 PhDs and Masters, who had made outstanding achievements during their study and training at the PPA.
