Workshop on “Human rights in criminal investigation”

The workshop was held under the chair of Major General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Canh, Deputy Director of the PPA, with the participation of experts from the Danish Institute for Human Rights, representatives of the Lang Son Police, some of heads and deputy heads of the Investigation Agencies, the investigators from Police force of provinces of Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Lang Son. Attending the conference was also scientists, reporters from the PPA, the Hanoi National University, the Human Rights Research Institute under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration.

After listening to the scientists who directly compiled the document reported briefly the content of the workshop, the participants discussed lively five main themes, including general issues on human rights, police's role in society, police with respecting and protecting human rights in investigation activities, ensuring human rights for vulnerable groups and police’s morality. Besides, after listening reasoning reports on issues related to ensuring human rights in investigation activities, on January 20th, the organization board held a tour for the delegates to visit Police headquarters in Lang Son Province to discuss hypothetical situation.

After 3 days, the seminar has ended successfully on January 20th, 2011.
