On September 07th, 2018, H.E. Gareth Ward - Ambassador of the British to Vietnam paid a working visit to the PPA. Major General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Chat - Vice President of the PPA hosted the meeting with the participant of functional departments.
At the meeting, Major General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Chat expressed the honor to welcome the newly-appointed Ambassador. The Vice President sincerely hoped that the PPA would continue to receive the support from Embassy in further cooperation. He also wish the new Ambassador to have a fruitful working term in Vietnam. Taking this opportunity, Major General Chat introduced the Ambassador of the education, training and international cooperation of the PPA in recent years, in which, he highlighted the support and cooperation from British partnership in general and the Embassy in particular.
The British Ambassador expressed his pleasant to receive his tenure in Vietnam in the context of the rapid development with great cooperative potential in Vietnam. He also mentioned that the British Embassy has supported the PPA in the field of training in prevention of money laundering and financing crimes as well as facilitated a PPA’s officers in being chosen for Chevening Scholarship of the British Government.
The British Ambassador pointed out that the Government is very concerned about the problem of human trafficking. There were a number of aid programs for countries around the world including Vietnam to strengthen the capacity for this issue. These activities has helped to strengthen the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the British Ministry of Home Affairs on human trafficking prevention.
The British Ambassador also shared that Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh would go to London to attend a conference on wildlife trade prevention in October, 2018. Under the increasingly complex circumstance of this crime, the British Embassy in Vietnam would try to promote the cooperation in this field.
Major General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Chat, on behalf of the leaders of PPA sincerely thanked British Ambassador for his visit to the PPA and reaffirmed the willingness of developing the cooperation between the PPA and the British Embassy in the coming time.
