PPA supports Lao peoples affected by hydropower dam collapse

At the event, the Vice President expressed the deep sympathy for the Party, the State and the people of Laos and hope that the amount would be relief aid for the peoples affected by the disaster.

Recently, the Sepien - Senamnoi hydropower dam, in southeastern Attapeu province, collapsed and released five billion cubic meters of water onto the rural villages below, sweeping away homes and people in a muddy tide. Hundred missing, over 6,600 people are now homeless after the disaster.

The PPA launched a donation to support flood victims, helping Lao peoples to overcome the difficulties and swiftly recover from the consequences of the incident.

On behalf of the State, the peoples and especially the victims affected by the disaster, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Laos to Vietnam received the donation and thanked for the timely help from officers, lecturers and students of the PPA.

Under the annual cooperation plan on training of leaders and officers between the MPS of Vietnam and the Lao Ministry of Public Security, the PPA has provided the graduate, postgraduate training courses as well as short-term training programs for the Lao police officers in Vietnam. At the same time, the PPA also sent the officers, lecturers to exchange experience, organize short-term fostering courses; assist in compiling textbooks, curriculum for the police training institutes in Laos.
