Closing Ceremony of Training Workshop: Policy Guides on Criminalizing Human Trafficking and Identifying and Protecting victims of Trafficking

Attending the closing ceremony were Ms Anusha Shiromi, Programme Coordinator - Protection UNHCR Representative of the Regional Support Office - The Bali Process; Ms Sylwia Katarzyna, Project Officer of the RSO - The Bali Process; Mr Kieran Allan Robert, Director of the Office of People Smuggling and Trafficking Prevention and Suppression - Australian Government Attorney-General's Department; Ms Rebbeca Joy, Senior Legal Officer of the People Smuggling and Trafficking Section Transnational Crime Branch - Australian Government Attorney - General's Department. As for the PPA was Major General, Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice President of the Academy and representatives of the functional units within the Academy.

During the training course, 30 participants of the Training Workshop who were officers, lecturers of the professional faculties of the PPA, People's Police College I, Public Security Department of Hanoi Capital and other local agencies, namely Lang Son, Nghe An, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Tuyen Quang were equipped with general knowledge about the illegal human trafficking crime, such as International legal regulations; Fundamental difference between human trafficking and illegal migrant operation; Method of human-trafficking approach in Vietnam; Ways for human trafficking criminal investigation.

 

At the closing ceremony, Ms Anusha Shiromi, Programme Coordinator - Protection UNHCR Representative of the Regional Support Office - The Bali Process appreciated the Government of Vietnam and the PPA in the prevention of human trafficking crimes: "As the main agency in charge of training law enforcement officers in the whole country, the PPA plays an important role in efforts to combat human trafficking and illegal migrant operation. The aim of the activities supported by the RSO is to strengthen and increase the exchange of experiences in the fight against crime by law enforcement forces through the documents that RSO provided.

Also during the closing ceremony, on behalf of all the participants of the workshop , Captain Can Xuan Dung, lecturer of Faculty of Criminal Police presented his profound thanks to the experts of the RSO as well as the experts of the Australian Government Attorney - General's Department and the Australian Federal Police for the reports on the facts of the current status, identifying and protecting the victims of human trafficking as well as the solution of this crime.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Major General, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice President of the PPA expressed his thanks to the experts of the workshop. Mr. Dang Xuan Khang emphasized this conference was an opportunity for the Vietnamese police officers as well as lecturers of the People's Public Security training institutions to learn further about the legal framework, support the law enforcement forces as well as worldwide governments for cooperating against the flow of illegal migration organization and cross-country human trafficking crime prevention, especially women and children. Besides, we also have the opportunity to review further the practical conditions and the complex situation of the women -and-children trafficking crime in the world in general and in Vietnam in particular, which require for developing strategy for preventing the flow of illegal migrants for the purpose of labor and sexual exploitation.

 

Vice President of the Academy hoped in the near future, the useful activities would be held to joint-hand for propaganda on protecting victims of human trafficking crimes. He also would like the participants would continue to update information, document for teaching to apply the equipped knowledge into the practical work.
