Implementing the project "Strengthen
English for Public Security force of Vietnam" supported by the United States
of America Embassy in Hanoi, on March 16th, 2015, the PPA in cooperation with
the US Embassy in Hanoi held the Opening Ceremony of the training course on
English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curriculum design and instruction for lecturers
of English of the People's Police Academy and the People's Police University (PPU).
Attending the Ceremony were Mr. Thomas
Eckert - Head of Rgional Security Office, US Embassy in Hanoi; Dr. Lottie
L.Baker - English Language Specialist, Regional English Language Office -
Lecturer of the course. For the PPA, Major General, Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice
President of the Academy and representatives of the functional units attended
the event.

The training course aimed to strengthen
and improve the efficiency of cooperation relations between the PPA and the US
Embassy in Hanoi; exchange the knowledge, share the experiences on how to
design curriculum and teaching ESP. Through the course, the capacity for
lecturers of English would be enhanced, they could design the documentation of
ESP in accordance with the police specialties in order to help the students to
be fluent in English using in their professional work.
Speaking at the Ceremony, Major General,
Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice President of the PPA confirmed: The training course was
one of many practical and meaningful co-operation activities in providing
lecturers of the two major police training institutions (PPA and PPU of Vietnam
Ministry of Public Security) with the opportunities to improve knowledge and
strengthen English capacity of police force to meet the professional requirements
in the context of international integration and ASEAN Community establishment
by the end of 2015. Especially, the course was the significant point in
enhancing teaching capacity for PPA’s lecturers of English, who play very
important role in English language training work in the PPA on the way to
become one of the key training institutions of the MPS in 2015 and to be the
National Major Training Institution in 2020. Thus, the Vice President of the
PPA requested that all participants of this training course should intensify
their learning spirit, be active and creative in learning good experiences from
the international language specialists.

According to the plan, the training course
is going to last from March 16th-20th, 2015 at the PPA
with the participation of 21 lecturers of from the PPA and PPU.
