At the Conference, the scientists, managers, practical officers focused on discussing and assessing the real status of infrastructure of inland waterway transport in the provinces of the Eastern and Southwest region and the waterway transport corridor; the standards of technical safety of waterway means of transport, standards and the skill level of controller; the situation of waterway traffic order and safety, especially the current situation of water traffic accident;

The Conference also provided the contents and measures to ensure the waterway traffic order and safety, especially the legal propaganda and education, building the traffic culture, application of technical means into the waterway transport activities .

Besides, the discussion reports outlined the advantages of waterway transport, the existing shortcomings in the public administration management of waterway transport and waterway traffic order and safety; Since then, analyzing the causes of these problems and shortcomings of waterway traffic order and safety in the Eastern and Southwest Provinces.

The scientists, managers, practical officers raised recommendations to the Government, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Security and the State management agencies at the central and local levels to enhance direction, management and supervision the waterway traffic order and safety in the Eastern and Southwest Provinces in the coming time.
