The establishment of the Institute of Police Science under the PPA is in the roadmap for building the Academy to become a key national education institution in 2018; meeting requirements for national security and social order in new period. The Institute is established on the basis of merging 5 units, including 3 old units: Center for Traffic Safety Research, People's Police Journal, Center for Criminology Research and Criminal Investigation  and 2 new units: Police Science Institute Office and the Center for Research and Development of Police Theory. The Institute Leaders include Major General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Nhat – Vice President of the PPA cum Director; Colonel, Assoc.Prof. Dr Nguyen Minh Duc - Deputy Director; The Colonel, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dac Hoan - Deputy Director.

Accordingly, the Institute will assist the Academy Director in research and application of science and technology, summarization of theories and practices in the areas of criminology, crime prevention and investigation to maintain the social order and safety, traffic safety, building of the People's Police force; proposals and recommendations of guidelines, policies and measures on prevention of crime, maintenance of social order and safety; participation in the training and retraining of police officers; coordination and implementation of training programs.

In this joyful day, Major-General Assoc.Prof. Dr Do Ngoc Can - Deputy General Director of the  Political General Department congratulated the People's Police Academy in general and the Institute of Police Science in particulars. He emphasized: The establishment of the Institute of Police Science was an important premise for the Academy during the striving process to become a national key education institution in 2018. As a newly established organization, at the first stage, difficulties would be inevitable. However, with the higher qualifications of the staffs, strong ideological stance, he trusted that the Institute would quickly assert its position in education, training, scientific research for the people’s police force in the future.

Responding to the trust of the Deputy Director General of People’s Public Security Political General Department,  Major General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Nhat - Vice President of the PPA cum Director of the Institute of Police Science committed to work together with each officer and soldier of at the Institute to fulfill the  assigned tasks to overcome difficulties, gain experiences, raise awareness about all aspects; rapidly stabilize the organization, arrange workplace and working conditions in a reasonable manner in order to effectively implement the work according to its function and assigned tasks.

On behalf of the PPA Leadership, Lieutenant-General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem - Vice President of the PPA proposed some directions to build and develop the Institute of Police Science in the future including; organization and operation manner of the Institute; selecting and identifying some specific research contents; expanding international cooperation and publications. He hoped, with abundant and high quality human resources, the Institute of Police Science would grow, deserve with the responsibilities instructed by the MPS as well as the  Political General Department of MPS.
