This seminar were chaired by Major General, Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice President of the PPA; Dr Andrew King Ries, Legal Experts from the University of Montana - United States, Colonel Lam Cao Luynh, Deputy Director of Da Nang Public Security Department; Mr. Terry White, Culture and Information Counsellor - the Embassy of the United States in Vietnam. Also, there are 70 investigators and lawyers from the Public Security Department of Da Nang city and Association of Lawyer Da Nang City.

In one working day, the legal experts of the United States and the investigators, lawyers of Da Nang City discussed the issues relating to legal and practical relationship between the lawyer and the investigators in duration of investigation process in Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general. Through presentation, discussion and exchange, participants were provided with pratical information, useful knowledge about the theoretical issues and practical relationship between lawyers and investigators in the investigation process. Notably, through the presentation and exchange of Dr. Andrew King - Ries helped participants more information about the justice system and coordination relationship between the agency and lawyers in process of defence in criminal procedural activities as well as the experiences of the United States in the matter of improving the efficiency of the relationship between lawyers and investigators. At the same time, the seminar participants were provided the useful and practical information on education and training of the PPA of Vietnam.

Overview of the seminar

Success of organizing the seminar reconfirmed effective cooperation relations between the PPA of Vietnam and the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam in particular and with the law enforcement authorities of the United States in general, as well as reconfirmed the close cooperation between the PPA with police force of  Da Nang  City and the related units in organizaing such events nationally and internationally over the past time.
