After the reception, the two sides had talks at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam. Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam appreciated the results of bilateral cooperation between the two Ministries of Public Security in 2016. Particularly, relevant units of the two ministries proactively and regularly conducted exchanges of international and regional issues related to national security, social order and safety in each country.

In the year of 2017, Minister To Lam suggested that  both sides seriously implement the agreements reached by senior leaders of the two countries in the new situation, and maintain contacts between leaders of the two Ministries to exchange the situation related to security and order.

Minister Somkeo Silavon sincerely thanked for the good sentiments that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Vietnamese minister offered to the Lao delegation. He also appreciated the strong and reliable political relations between the two countries, as well as the close cooperation and regular and mutual supports in the international arena between the two Ministries of Public Security, contributing to the protection of national interests and security of each country.

The Laos Minister agreed on the 2017 cooperation orientations between the two ministries. At the same time, he wished that, in the coming time, cooperation between the two ministries will continue to develop and achieve more practical results, contributing to maintaining social order and safety and ensuring national security of each country.

At the end of the talks, Minister To Lam and Minister Somkeo Silavong signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOU) for 2017 between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Security of Laos.

Later in the same afternoon, the MPS of Vietnam in collaboration with relevant agencies of Laos solemnly held a ceremony to present Lao medals to various teams and individuals of the MPS of Vietnam and present the Honorary Doctorate of the PPA to Minister Somkeo Silavong.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam emphasized that the MPS of Vietnam deeply thanked the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Security of Laos for visiting Vietnam and present the Order of Merit by the Lao State for Vietnam, and congratulated Minister Somkeo Silavong on being presented the Honorary Doctorate of the PPA, MPS of Vietnam and the teams, individuals of MPS for being presented the Order of Merit by the Lao State.

Within the framework of the visit, on March 17^th, the Minister of Security of Laos and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam led by Lieutenant-General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security visitedthe Suoi Hai Relic of PPAat Ba Vi - Hanoi.

The Suoi Hai Relic is a memorial stele to mark the first milestone in the process of building and developmentofPPAfrom 1968 to 1990, where PPA was used to established in 1968.
