With the approval from the Ministry of Public Security, on September 21, 2023, a delegation of People's Police Academy (PPA) led by Lieutenant General, Dr. Chử Văn Dũng - Vice President of the PPA, attended the 7th General Assembly Annual Meeting (GAAM) of the Association of Police Training Institutions in Asia (APTA), which was held in an online format.
The 7th GAAM, hosted by the Korean National Police University (KNPU) in South Korea under the leadership of Chief Superintendent General Kim Soon Ho - President of the KNPU and the APTA, had the participation of 21 delegations from 16 official member institutions, 02 dialogue partners, and 03 prospective international training institutions seeking APTA membership. In the year 2023 - 2024, the PPA, along with the University of Internal Affairs of Mongolia, will serve as the co-Vice Presidents of APTA.
At the opening session of the Meeting, Mr Kim Soon Ho delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting the development journey of APTA over the years since its commencement. He also acknowledged the positive contributions of the member institutions in promoting APTA's activities and fostering a dynamic and effective multilateral cooperation framework for police training institutions in the region.
During the conference, the APTA Secretariat presented a report on the activities of the Association in 2023 and a draft Strategic Plan and Roadmap for APTA for the 2024 - 2028 period. During this session, APTA members cast their votes and officially welcomed 03 new members, including 2 training institutions (People's Police University of Vietnam and National Police Academy of Nepal) and 01 non-governmental organization (Wildlife Conservation Society - WCS).
Additionally, the Meeting selected the locations for APTA's activities in 2024, including the Asian Police Student Festival (PASFA), which will be hosted by the Royal Thai Police Cadet Academy.

The APTA was initiated and officially established at the KNPU (1st Conference) on February 22, 2017. The APTA was established with the aim of maximizing the strengths of police training institutions in the region by facilitating information exchange, mutual support, and cooperation in policing through multilateral partnerships, thus contributing to a safer Asia.
Since its inception, APTA has organized the following annual conferences:
- The 1st APTA Conference (Inaugural Conference) was held in South Korea in February 2017, where member institutions officially signed the Association's Charter.
- The 2nd Annual Conference was held in South Korea in October 2017, during which the Association adopted all its bylaws and regulations.
- The 3rd Annual Conference was held in Thailand in September 2018 under the theme "For Cooperation and Sustainable Development."
- The 4th Annual Conference was held in the Philippines on October 15, 2019, with the theme "Cooperation for a Safer Asia."
