On 31st August 2022, with approval from leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, PPA delegation led by Senior Colonel, Assoc. Prof. Tran Hong Quang - Vice President of PPA attended the 6th General Assembly Annual Meeting (GAAM) of the Association of Police Training Institutions in Asia held online.
The 6th General Assembly Annual Meeting (GAAM) of APTA was held online and chaired by Korean National Police University as President of the Association, attended by delegations from 15 official members, 03 dialogue partners and 02 institutions applying to join in the Association.
At the Opening session of GAAM, Chief Superintendent General Song Jeong-Ae - President of APTA and Korean National Police University - gave remarks to welcome and appreciate member institutions for sharing and supporting each other in the context of Covid-19 pandemic in the past three years, which forced Association’s programs and activities to be either postponed or held online.
APTA Secretariat presented progress report of the Association in the past year, pointing out notable achievements and challenges that APTA members have to face due to the complicated situation of the pandemic. At this session, APTA members reviewed the application of Qatar Police College and University of Public Security of Uzbekistan and voted to accept these two institutions to be official members of APTA.
Besides, being approved by the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, PPA and University of Internal Affairs of Mongolia were nominated and elected by member institutions to be Vice Presidents of APTA in the term of 2022-2023. At the meeting, Senior Colonel, Assoc. Prof. Tran Hong Quang - Vice President of PPA - delivered a speech to express gratitude for the trust and support that PPA received from institution members and sharing that the position of Vice President of APTA held by PPA in upcoming year has a deep meaning as the year of 2023 will mark 55th anniversary of establishment of PPA. On behalf of Directorate Board and all staff and cadets of the Academy, the Vice President committed that PPA would faithfully assist the President of APTA in execution of Association’s operations and promote cooperation among member institutions in the future. Upon the closing session of GAAM, member institutions voted to decide the venue for the next General Assembly Annual Meeting. Eventually, University of Internal Affairs of Mongolia was elected to be the host of 7th GAAM in 2023.
Along with the annual meeting of APTA, PPA’s delegation also participated in the academic conference, where representatives from Hong Kong Police College, University of Malaya, Public Safety College of the Philippines, Korean National Police University, Royal Police Cadet Academy of Thailand and Rastriya Raksha University of India introduced and shared their information and experiences in training programs and curriculum.
