PPA summarizes training on improve efficiency of handling alcohol concentration violations for traffic police

Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Trong Thai - Chief Office Manager of the National Traffic Safety Committee;  Colonel Vu Quy Phi - Deputy Director General of Traffic Police Department cum Vice Chief Office Manager of the National Traffic Safety Committee; Ms. Trinh To Oanh - Director of Global Road Traffic Partnership (GRSP) in Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Phuong Nam - World Health Organization’s Expert; representatives of functional units, leaders, teachers, students in specialty of roadway and railway traffic police - the PPA; Leaders from the professional traffic police forces and local traffic safety divisions .

Under the guidance of experienced professionals from the National Traffic Safety Committee, the PPA, GRSP Director, WHO expert, after more than one month of training, 629 traffic police officers from 17 central-governed provinces and cities including Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang have been provided with useful knowledge concerning five topics: Traffic accidents caused by roadway motor vehicle drivers’ violation of alcohol concentration level in Vietnam; Patrol, control and handling of alcohol concentration violations by drivers of roadway motor vehicles; training the use of Alcoloze LE –S4/S5 alcohol concentration indicator.

At the conference, delegates were reported the outcomes, advantages and difficulties during the training, at the same time sharing experiences and lessons to enhance their patrol, control and handling violations of alcohol concentration. As result, 100% of localities completed requirements and goals of the training. At the localities, the press communication and deployment of traffic police forces have raised the people’s awareness of traffic rules, contributing to actively maintain traffic safety in Vietnam.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the PPA, the Colonel, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Minh Chat - Vice President of the PPA expressed profound thanks for the Red Cross, GRSP, functional units and 17 localities who have actively cooperated with the PPA to successfully organize the training course. He wished, through the training, the handling of alcohol concentration violations at the localities would have further positive changes in the future, at the same time, affirmed that the People's Police Academy would willing to cooperate with the Red Cross and Global Road Traffic Partnership (GRSP) to organize more training courses for traffic police forces in Vietnam.
