New contributions of the thesis:
1. In term of theory, the thesis clarifies the concept, content and measures to prevent crimes of illegally storing, transporting, buying and trading drugs; leadership, coordinative relations between forces in preventing crimes of illegal storing, transporting and trading drugs of the police for drug-related crime prevention and suppression in 5 provinces in the Southwest of Laos.

2. The thesis studies the situation and criminological characteristics of illegally storing, transporting and trading drugs relating to the prevention of this crime in 5 provinces of southwestern Laos.

3. The thesis researches the reality of preventing crimes of illegally storing, transporting and trading drugs of the police force; assesses the achieved results, limitations, shortcomings and reasons of  shortcomings in preventing crimes of illegally storing, transporting and trading drugs of the police for drug-related crime prevention and suppression in 5 provinces in the Southwest of Laos.

4. On the basis of science and practice, the thesis proposes solutions to improving the efficiency of preventing illegally storing, transporting and trading drugs crimes according to the functions of the police for drug-related crime prevention and suppression in 5 provinces in the Southwest of Laos.
