New contributions of the dissertation:

The dissertation is a systematic and comprehensive research on building and using confidential informants of the criminal police force on the basis of using and generalizing some domestic and overseas scientific researches into building and using confidential informants in general and building and using confidential informants of the criminal police force in particular. The dissertation also proposed suggestions that need taking into consideration.

The dissertation added new contributions as follows:

- The dissertation focused on studying theoretical issues of confidential informants, building and using confidential informants of the criminal police force such as building the concept of confidential informants, definition, characteristics of building and using confidential informants, roles of confidential informants in combating and preventing crimes of the criminal police force.

- The dissertation paid much attention to analyzing, working out the real situation of building and using confidential informants in combating and preventing crimes of Hanoi criminal police force. In addition, a survey was conducted in order to analyze the real situation of building and using confidential informants in combating and preventing crimes according to specific steps such as process, procedures of building confidential informants, choice of people to work as confidential informants, making documents of confidential informants, managing and using confidential informants. After that, some remarks and evaluations of strong points and drawbacks of building and using confidential informants of Hanoi criminal police force were also mentioned which were accompanied by reasons for those drawbacks.

- Some predictions on the trend of incoming crimes in Hanoi and factors affecting the effect of building and using confidential informants were taken into consideration. Finally, some suggestions were proposed in order to improve the building and using confidential informants of Hanoi criminal police force.
