The Directorate of the PPA presented the souvenir to the delegation of the University of Maryland

Attending the Meeting were Lieutenant General, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem, President of the PPA; Major General, Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice President of the PPA; representatives of Departments within the PPA. As for the University of Maryland, USA were Mr. James Patrick Lynch, Head of Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice; Mrs. Ann Marie Holmes, College of Behavioral and Social Sciences; Mrs. Song Zhao, Deputy Director of Office of International Executive Programs (OIEP); Mr. Lixin Shen, Director of OIEP China; Mr. Hao Chen, Deputy Director of OIEP China.

 

Opening the Meeting, Lieutenant General, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem, President of the PPA was delighted to welcome the delegation of the University of Maryland, USA - The first international delegation visited and worked with the Academy in the New Year 2014. In addition, the President of the PPA deeply thanked the University of Maryland for their cooperation with the People’s Police Academy of Vietnam in recent years.

 

Overview of the Meeting

Based on the initially successful results of the first Joint Master’s Degree Program on Justice Leadership, the two sides also exchanged the process to implement the second one. At the same time, the University of Maryland introduced the international research project on network security and suggested the PPA to consider the possibility of participating in this project to strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of the Department of Anti-High-tech Crime of the Academy as well as to enhance the cooperation between the two Universities. The PPA recognized these contents and would report to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam before implementing the next steps.

On behalf of the delegation of the University of Maryland, Mr. James Patrick Lynch expressed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome of the PPA. He believes that based on the experiences and the results of the first joint training course, the second one would be held successfully.

At the end of the Meeting, the President of the PPA, on behalf of the Academy’s Directorate thanked again the delegation of the University of Maryland, USA and sincerely hoped that the cooperative relationship between the two sides would increasingly develop in the future.
