Under
the approval of leader of the Ministry of Public Security, the PPA sent
a delegation including 1 officer and 2 students to join the Police
Academy Students Festival in Asia - 2017 (PASFA) held at Korean National
Police University (KNPU).
This event is in the framework of the Association of Police Training Institutions in Asia (APTA) and hosted by KNPU.
PASFA
2017 also has the participation of officers and students from Korean
National Police Academy, Central Police Academy of Korea, People’s
Public Security University of China, East China University of Political
Science and Law, Law Enforcement University of Mongolia, Police Academy
of Cambodia, Indonesian National Police Academy, Police Science College
of Indonesian National Police, People’s Police Academy of Lao PDR,
Philippine National Police Academy, University of Malaya of Malaysia,
Royal Police Cadet Academy of Thailand.

In
the framework of PASFA, APTA held “International Undergraduate
Conference on Policing” which recognizes best research papers through
two rounds of assessment, paper submission and paper presentation. With
concerted attempts, the PPA students entered the final round with a
presentation about “An idea to prevent human trafficking in Vietnam”.
The final round was also participated by representatives from KNPU,
People’s Public Security University of China, Law Enforcement University
of Mongolia and Royal Police Cadet Academy of Thailand.
In the
final round, the students had to present their paper before a board of
examiners consisting of 5 professors from KNPU as well as other
prestigious universities such as Dongguk University, Hallym University,
Kyonggi University and Konkuk University. After the impressive eloquence
with excellent English skills and knowledge about criminal in general
and human trafficking in particular, the PPA students were awarded the
2nd prize (the 1st prize was awarded to students of KNPU).

In
PASFA 2017, the organization committee also provided students with the
opportunities to enrich their knowledge about international cooperation,
crisis negotiation or crime scene investigation instructed by leading
experts with most advanced and modern technology of Korean Police
through lectures, presentations and field visits. In particular, the
trips to Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to witness the modern CCTV
system of Korean Traffic Police and to grasp a comprehensive
understanding about Korean Police. In addition, students had enjoyable
and refreshing time in Everland Resort - the biggest theme park in
Korea.

Participating
in PASFA 2017, PPA’s delegation has left good impressions to the
international friends. They have expressed the activeness and
willingness to participate in activities initiated by APTA. It is true
that, with the great effort of KNPU, this year’s festival has
contributed enormously to create an international forum for the region’s
police institutions and widespread information sharing network among
police students in the Asia as well as develop policing of Asia’s
countries in the context of international cooperation to cope with
escalation of transnational crime.
