Being awarded acutely the importance of books and reading culture to officials, lecturers and students, the Directorate and the functional units of the PPA have been trying to build the healthy and friendly environments for learning and researching, to enhance the reading culture and reading skills for officials, lecturers and students of the Academy. It is enhancing the quantity and quality of materials, textbooks, newspapers, magazine, etc.; improving the infrastructure to facilitate the researching and studying requirement of officials, lecturers and students of the PPA.

Every year, the faculties, departments, divisions and centers of the PPA are always active in collecting the system of legal documents; researching, compiling textbooks and various kinds of reference materials; therefore, the quantity and quality of the academic materials at the Academy were added continuously to serve more than 10,000 officials, lecturers and students who are teaching, learning and researching at the PPA. Furthermore, some faculties and departments have established the mini libraries that store all the documents related to the specialized curriculum to help students search easily the materials suitable with specialized subjects they are studying.

Besides, by the support of individuals, agencies inside and outside the Public Security force such as Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Office of Ministry of Public Security, International Cooperation Department - Ministry of Public Security, General Department of Police for Sentence Enforcement and Legal Assistance - Ministry of Public Security, etc., a great number of books, newspapers, magazines have been being supplemented and updated in the library of the PPA. Among them, there are a lot of precious materials which have great value to the work of studying and researching of officials, lecturers and students inside and outside the Academy.

On the other hand, recently, the 12-floor building of Professional Library has begun to serve the need of finding and researching document for readers inside and outside the Academy. In this building, the documents, materials, books, etc. are sorted by theme and by reader, such as the studying room for President Ho Chi Minh, the studying room for Religions, the reading room for students, etc. Besides, the reading rooms, the borrowing rooms are arranged the professional librarians who are ready to guide readers to look up and read the materials in accordance with their purposes. The Professional Library of the PPA will create the favorable conditions for readers to get closer to the books.

Especially, in response to the World Book and Copyright Day (April 23^rd) and Vietnam Books (April 21^st), the Center for Scientific Information of the Academy launched the Reading Month (01^st-30^th April, 2014) at the Professional Library of the PPA. With the theme “Reading for tomorrow”, the Reading Month will take place many activities such as:

- Book fair with the theme “60 years of Dien Bien Phu Victory May 7^th, 1954- May 7^th, 2014” in the studying room for President Ho Chi Minh and the reading room for students.

- Program “Sharing knowledge” by the form of contributing books for the library of the PPA to serve the readers to research and study.

- Seminar on “Reading skills - necessary skills at higher education” and praised the friendly patrons of the library on April 23^rd, 2014. At the Seminar, the speakers and experts will guide the basic reading skills, exchange experiences in reading, finding information, refined knowledge to research and study at higher education; introduce the new equipment, electronic books, digital technology, etc.

The Reading Month will be the valuable opportunity for officials, lecturers

Reading Month will be an opportunity for each official, lecturers and students to approach to the books, realize the benefits of reading and contribute to the formation of reading habit, reading hobby and especially reading skill for the most efficient reading way, the reader not only understand the content, but also know the way to apply what they read into his own life.

The modern facilities, increasingly enhanced book quality along with meaningful activities for respecting book will be the basic factors that encourage officials, lecturers and students of the PPA to go to the library, find the book to improve gradually the reading culture as well as enhance their own knowledge to serve the process of learning, researching and the future work.
