The Con Dao Historical Relic is one of the largest and long-life prisons which were particularly important to the history of revolutionary cause of the country. During 113 years of domination (from 1862 to 1975), the French colonialists imprisoned hundreds of thousands of revolutionary soldiers and patriots of many generations. The French colonialists killed more than 20,000 people and turned the Con Dao into "the hell on earth”. But also at here, the revolutionary soldiers had shown struggling Will of unyieldingness, indomitability of the Communists who were ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the country. With the special significance, the Con Dao historical relic was recognized as the historical relic of the nation in 2012.

To commemorate and express gratitude to the elders’ generation who sacrificed heroically for the independence and freedom of our country, for the happiness of the people, the officers and lecturers of PPA built the work "Rock-garden" at the entrance of Con Dao Museum as a gift.

The work "Rock-garden” was built by the financial support and sentiment of the officer, lecturers and the youth union’s members of the PPA, Besides, the work also received the interest, support and direction of Lieutenant General, Hero of People's Armed Forces Chau Van Man, former Deputy General Director of the General Department of Building Force, former Con Dao prison; Major General Nguyen Thanh Nam, Deputy General Director of General Department of Building Force; Colonel Nguyen Van Thuong, Deputy Director of the Public Security of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

Speaking at the Inauguration Ceremony, Lieutenant General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem, President of the PPA expressed deep thank to individuals and agencies, especially the Directorate of Con Dao Museum, the Con Dao Public Security Department for their collaboration and support both physically and mentally to build the "Rock-garden". To promote effectiveness of the work, he would like that the Directorate of Con Dao Museum would direct its functional units support the PPA for managing and fixing the work. As for the PPA, he asked the related departments to keep the regular relationship with the Con Dao Museum to exchange necessary information and data to serve the traditional education of the Academy.
