On 10th
December, the PPA held formally the opening ceremony for postgraduate training program
in 2013.
Attending were Senior
Lieutenant General Dang Van Hieu, member of the Central Party Committee, Vice
Minister of Public Security; Lieutenant General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem, President
of the PPA, Leadership Representatives of the General Departments, Police
Training Institutes within the Ministry of Public Security; the Representatives
of Leaders of Public Security Department of Hanoi Capital, Phu Tho, Thua Thien
Hue, Quang Ngai, Da Nang; the scientists and the experienced lecturers; leaders
of the functional departments within the PPA and students of the postgraduate
training program in 2013 were also attended the event.

The PPA is one
of the significant Academy where has the highest number of qualified teachers
in the system of public security institutes with 20 Professors, Associate
Professors, 80 PhD, many experienced lecturers who joint in teaching the postgraduate
training program. During 22 years, the PPA has trained about 1500 Masters and over
200 PhD which contribute to supplement the high-quality human resources for the
research institutes, universities and the advisory and the professional police
forces of the public security force as well as for the Ministry of Defense, the
People's Procuracy, the People's Court and the police forces of Laos and
Cambodia.
In the school year
of 2013 - 2014, the PPA held the postgraduate entry examination and has 279
students who were chosen to the master degree training program and 72 PhD researching
students who were chosen to the PhD degree program.

Speaking at the
ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Dang Van Hieu, Deputy Minister of Public
Security congratulated the new postgraduate students and required the students to uphold the spirit of responsibility for
learning and practicing, actively choose the thesis and research independently
and creatively, enhance application of learned knowledge in the real situation
of crime prevention.
As for the PPA, the Deputy Minister also highly
appreciated the PPA’s contribution in term of post-graduation training over the
previous years. He confirmed that all officers who were graduated at the
postgraduate level from the PPA can meet demand for political tasks in each
period and have many important contributions to the work of scientific research
and the Cause of Nation Defence.

For the
requirements and tasks in the new situation, Deputy Minister Dang Van Hieu
requested the PPA should focus on gathering all resources to improve the
quality of teachers, create the best conditions to attract scientist inside and
outside the public security force to participate in training at postgraduate
level, continue to innovate the training methods, update new knowledge, strengthen practice skills, develop
ability of self-studying, self-research and creativeness for students. Besides,
it is necessary for the PPA to enhance international cooperation,
actively exchanging experience with the training institutes inside and outside
the public security force to improve the quality of post-graduate education at
the Academy in the future, building the Academy become the high-quality police
training Center of the Country and the region.
