On December 11th, the
Department of Foreign Languages of the PPA held the career-oriented Seminar
on the theme: “Future career for English language students of the PPA” in order
to encourage learning motivation for students of Specialty of English language for
Police of the PPA as well as improve the quality of teaching and learning
foreign languages at the Academy in the integration period.
Attending the Seminar were Major
General, Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice President of the PPA; Major General Tran Gia
Cuong, Director of Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Public
Security; Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Interpol
Vietnam Department; Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duy Quoc, Deputy Chief of Hang Bo
Public Security District; Major Nguyen Huu Phuoc, Deputy Head of Division of
personnel and training - Department of Personnel. As for the PPA were representatives
of the Department of Foreign Languages, students of specialties of English language
for Police and Criminal Investigation (high quality classes).

At the Seminar, Major General, Dr. Dang
Xuan Khang expressed his pleasure at the development on both quantity and
quality of Department of Foreign Languages and shared his experiences on using
foreign languages in the process of work since he used to be the lecturer at
the Department of Foreign Languages of the People's Police University (now
the PPA), also during the time to be as the Director of the Interpol Vietnam Department
and now as the Vice President of the Academy. Major General, Dr. Dang Xuan
Khang stressed that during being trained in the PPA, English language students would
be equipped with basic knowledge of foreign languages and professional work.
However, he asked each student to take the initiative in learning and
accumulating knowledge in many different fields to enhance their understanding
and necessary skills to meet the requirements of the practical work.

Exchanging in the career-oriented Seminar,
Major General Tran Gia Cuong, Director of Department of International
Cooperation - Ministry of Public Security emphasized the role of foreign languages
in the work of the Public Security Force and suggested some positions that English
language students who graduated from the PPA could undertake in the Department
of International Cooperation such as: area officers, interpreters, etc. He also
stressed that besides the professional skills, English language students could build
their own proper methodology to apply in all situations of the life, enhance
computing and communication skills, especially the cautiousness in
relationships with foreign partners.

After listening to openly share of
representatives, the English language students freely asked them some questions
related to professional work and postgraduate education after graduating from the
PPA. All the above issues were answered specifically, it helped the students to
determine the right learning motivation and have the clearer career orientation
in the future.
