Youth Union of VPPA: The green uniform light the red flame
Even though it was the first time to donate blood, the youth union members were very confident and joyful

Particularly in Hanoi, The Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion need about 1200-1500 units of blood per day to serve the demand of treatment, emergency in the hospitals in this area. In the last days of the year, close to the Lunar New Year holiday, the number of blood donations declines considerably while the demand for blood of patients is not reduced, furthermore, the amount of blood becomes scarce because of the increasing number of traffic accidents during the Tet holidays.

Voluntary blood donation attracted the widespread and

enthusiastic participation of youth union members of the PPA

One drop of blood - One heart

Facing this situation, many agencies and units nationwide have organized numerous voluntary activities to donate a sufficient amount of blood to meet the need of patients’ treatment. With a large number of youth members, who have passed the rigorous health pre-selection and have gone through training time in the armed forces and more importantly, are always in high spirit for sharing blood with other adorable compatriots, the PPA is always one of the agencies participating the voluntary blood donation with the numerous amount.

Only from December, 2014 to January, 2015, the Youth Union of the PPA has joined in four blood donation programs: National Voluntary Day held by Ho Chi Minh Central Youth Union at Hoa Binh park with 200 officers, students participating in propaganda and 65 units of blood were donated; contribution of 50 units of blood to Co Nhue 2 ward,  where the Academy is located; the program “Red Sunday” launched by Tien Phong newspaper with 50 units of  blood and especially the blood donation festival “blood of love for dear comrades” organized by the Youth Union of the Political General Department of the public security force with 400 units of blood. Not only directly taking part in blood donation, the PPA also actively participated in cultural exchange and positive propaganda activities in order to raise the awareness of officers and soldiers in particular and the masses in general about blood donation to save the lives.

Many collectives and individuals of the PPA have been presented the reward for having many huge contributions to the blood donation:

Joining for dear comrades

On the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year, the youth members of course D39 who are on guard during the Tet holidays will participate directly in blood donation to be able to help a police officer have a peaceful New Year. According to the information provided by Mr. Bui Huy Tuan - the Director of  the Blood Transfusion Center of the Public Security 198 Hospital, they are currently treating for the Police Colonel - Deputy Head of Police Station in Phuc Hoa district, Cao Bang province for his ganglion cancer, which has led to aplastic anemia and has been treated by chemotherapy and has received a blood transfusion once every twice day. In times of blood scarcity, to ensure the treatment, 30 students of course D39 who have the same blood type with the Police Colonel will be assigned to be ready for donating blood when necessary.

This year, the longer Lunar New Year holidays with many spring trips will be a great concern of the medical sector about blood demand for emergency cases of patients suffering from traumatic accidents. Therefore, each unit of blood of youth union’s members of the PPA continues to contribute to a hope of living for patients and establish the beautiful image of the police officer “laying down the live for the country and the people”.
