Responding the “Volunteer in winter” program which was mobilized by the
Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, January 8th-10th, 2015,
the Youth Union of the PPA in company with Youth Union branches of the Basic Profession
Department and the Department of Anti-evironmental Crime organized “Volunteer in
winter” program in Muong Te district, Lai Chau province.
In the morning of January 9th, The voluntary team met the police
officers, the Youth Union and the People’s Committee of Muong Te district for
the purpose of deploying and cooperating to do the volunteer program in Bum To
commune (30km far from the town) - one of the most miserable and poorest communes
in Vietnam. In spite of the unfavorable weather, the heavily rain and the
coldness, the members of voluntary team overcame the long slippery and muddy
road so as to present people the significant gifts. Thanks to assistance of the
local authority, the team offered more than 2 tons of clothes, bedding, 300
noodles boxes and 30 sets of gift which was contributed by the officers,
teachers and students of the PPA to people of La Hu ethnic minority in Bum To
commune.
The poor life of people in Bum To commune
In the evening, the PPA voluntary team organized the cultural exchanging
program with Bum To people. The Leaders of the Muong Te Youth Union, the teachers,
students and numerous people of Bum To commune attended the program. Lots of joyful
and meaningful games brought them the happy smiles, connected closely the spirits
and shortened the distance between lowlander and highlander. Many songs about
soldiers and villagers resounded throughout the village area, which made the
police’s image closer and closer, more and more familiar with people.
The close art show of PPA’s students
Although the voluntary program occurred shortly, it was deeply
significant. This was the practical action showing the solidary spirit,
collective responsibility, sacrifice and headship unconcernedness of the
soldiers when going to Tay Bac mountainous region in order to carry the “golden
heart” to remote areas. By this journey, the members of the PPA’s Youth Union
had profound experience about the life of ethnic minorities and comprehended
the deprivation and unhappiness that they sustained. It simultaneously
contributed to dispel the coldness and left many great impressions on the local
people.
