With the consent of the Ministry of Public Security
(MPS), on December 7th, 2015, the PPA organized the Opening ceremony of
integrated border management operational training course for law enforcement
officers in the ASEAN member countries to be held by the INTERPOL and the launching
of the International & ASEAN Cooperation Study Centre of the PPA.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tom Corrie - Deputy
Head of the EU Representation in Vietnam; Ms. Choo Woo Ping - Assistant
Director, Capacity Building and Training Directorate, INTERPOL; Senior
Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Tuyen - Deputy Director General for Foreign Relations
- MPS and delegates from 09 ASEAN member countries. As for the PPA, there were Lieutenant
General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem - President of the Academy, Major General, Assoc.Prof.
Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Vice President and representatives of the functional
units within the Academy.
Overview

The training course introduces for the law enforcement
officers of ASEAN member countries about the overall scope and expected
outcomes of the EU-ASEAN migration and border management programme II; provides
the fundamental knowledge of roles, functions, policing capabilities,
databases, products of the INTEPOL; the significance of counterfeit document
and devices for document verification, introduction of human trafficking and
migrant smuggling, the issues of investigating the crimes relating to corruption,
High-tech, economy; the legal issues on human rights and tools of electronic
forensics. Simultaneously, the training course will also enhances the mutual
understanding and the effectiveness of cooperation between MPS of Vietnam in
general, the PPA in particular with the
INTERPOL.

On this occasion, the PPA also organized the inauguration
ceremony of International & ASEAN Cooperation Study Centre for all officers,
teachers and visitors to study and understand more about the ASEAN member
countries and international counterparts. This center will be used as place for
small international conference, workshop or meeting between the Academy with
international counterparts.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the PPA, Lieutenant General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem
- President expressed the deep thanks to the INTERPOL for connecting to all the
participants and facilitating the PPA to organize the ceremony and gave his
thanks to the presence of delegates from 09 ASEAN member countries at the ceremony.
He also believed that with the experience
and knowledge of all experts, the efforts and cooperation of the
participants, the supports from the partners, the training course would be
successfully completed as the expected goals and contribute to enhancing the
understanding and cooperation of all ASEAN member countries to build a strong
and solid ASEAN Community.
