Continuing the project
"Strengthening of English language capacity for Vietnamese police
force" from February, 2015 supported by the US Embassy in Hanoi, on
December 14th, 2015, Major General, Assoc.Prof Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Vice
President of the PPA had a meeting with the partners of the US Embassy in Hanoi
led by Mr. Rex Roberson, Director of International Narcotics and Law
Enforcement (INL) in Bangkok, Thailand and Diane Michele Millar, Director of
the Regions English Language Office (RELO), leaders of International
Cooperation Department, Faculty of Foreign Languages and the English lecturers
used to participating in the training courses on building the English language training
program in March, 2015.
At
the meeting, the Vice President of the PPA expressed deep thanks to the US
Embassy for their support and close cooperation with the PPA in recent years.
He also pointed out the importance and significance of the project
"Strengthening of English language capacity for Vietnam police force"
for the MPS of Vietnam in general and lecturers, students of the PPA in
particular, which plays an important role in the development roadmap of PPA to
become the key training institution of the Nation in the future. Mr. Rex
Roberson appreciated the PPA for the results of the project in 1st phase and
hoped to receive the close collaboration of the PPA in 2nd phase from January
to October, 2016, which would create the premise for the other cooperative
activities between both agencies in the future.

Following
the itinerary, the delegation worked with the Faculty of Foreign Language and
the Department of International Cooperation of the PPA to collect the feedbacks
from the lecturers on the results of the 1st Phase and plan for the 2nd phase
of the project "Strengthening of English language capacity for Vietnamese
police force" in 2016. The two sides agreed to continue the results
of 1st Phase and 2nd Phase would focus
mainly on the contents:

Compiling 02 English language textbooks on Speciality of Traffic Police and the Administration Management on Social
Order and Safety and put into the training courses on strengthening the
professional English language capacity for the above-mentioned forces of the
Public Security Departments in the provinces, cities in the whole country where
are in need of improving the professional English language;

Compiling the new English language textbooks for the other non-professional and
professional English classes;
-
Strengthening the training courses on the teaching methods for English lecturers
of the Public Security training institutions in general and the PPA in
particular;

Sending the experts to support the teaching of practice skills for the English
language-specialized classes;

Continuing the success of the project in 1st phase , in the 2nd phase, the INL
and RELO would send specialists to support the English language training
courses for other police forces as the Criminal Forensic Science police force, Anti-Environment
related crime Police, Anti-Drugs related crime Police ...

Finally,
Mr. Rex Roberson appreciated the efforts of the PPA for the success of the
project in the 1st phase and committed to try their best to bring the highest
efficiency for the 2nd phase in the school year 2015 -2106. Again, Mr. Rex
Roberson expressed his thank to the PPA for its cooperation as well as the
sentiment, enthusiasm for the US Embassy in Vietnam in general and for the cooperative
programs in particular

1st phase: From January to June, 2015
Sending the lecturers of PPA and the People's
Police University to attend the international conference on methods of
teaching English language in Cambodia (CamTESOL); Organizing the short-term
training courses on methods of compiling professional English language
textbook and methods of teaching English language for lecturers of the two
training institutions; Organizing 2 short-term training courses on the use of
professional English language at the PPA for officers and soldiers of the
Hanoi Public Security Department; compiling 2 set of professional English
language references for the non-professional and professional English
language students of the PPA and the People's Police University.

2nd phase: scheduled from January, 2016
to October 31st, 2016
The project will fulfill the set of professional
English language textbook for the non-professional English language specialities
of the PPA and the People's Police University and put into the curriculum;
extend the short-term training courses for officers and soldiers of the Public
Security Department of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in
according to the specific needs of training;
Experts on English language of RELO will
teach the English-language practice skills for professional English language
class of the PPA; enhance the English language training courses and participate
in domestic and international conferences for English lecturers of the PPA
and the University of People's Police.
