In the academic year of 2016 - 2017, the 1^st Lecturers’ Teaching - in - English Contest has been held with the purpose of evaluating the implementation of teaching different subjects in English in order to innovate the teaching methods and replicating the teaching or learning movements in the PPA.

This contest has drawn close attention from the Party Committee and Board of Directors of the PPA. During the contest, the lecturers and officers have shown their best efforts and determination. Lecturers from different departments are appointed and encouraged by their leaders to take part in the contest so that 14 lecturers from 9 Education Departments could try their best to overcome difficulties (such as language barrier, materials or English lesson plans) to give the best presentations.

According to the result of final evaluation of the Organizing Committee and Board of examiners, all lecturers have strictly followed the regulations and teaching curriculum. Moreover, English language was properly used during the contest. The lecturers have applied modern, active teaching methods and utilized IQ boards perfectly as well. They have shown off professional knowledge and excellent English competency through their presentations.

Consequently, the Board of examiners has selected the most outstanding lecturers to give awards, including 4 first prizes, 4 first runner up prizes, 4 second runner up prizes and 2 consolation prizes in order to appreciate their efforts and encourage teaching movements generally as well as teaching and learning English in particularly.

The result of the contest is one of the basis for the Party Committee, Board of Directors of the PPA and leaders of functional or teaching units to evaluate the quality of teaching in English and lecturers and learners’ English competency as well. On the basis of the achievements and the limitations during the contest, the Party Committees, Board of Directors of the PPA will have a specific agenda in promoting the programme of teaching subjects in English and enhancing the quality of the teaching contests of the PPA in the near future.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party Committee, Board of Directors of the PPA, Major General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Vice President of the PPA highly appreciated and congratulated the excellent results of the participants and the success of the contest. He asked the functional and teaching units to fulfill some missions:

Firstly, strengthen the cooperation between the teaching units and the Training Management Department to revise the teaching programs to make sure that all units are able to register the subjects or lectures to be taught in English, starting from the academic year 2017 - 2018.

Secondly, continue the program of high quality training classes and the program of language contributed by social resources in order to conduct quality training classes to improve English skills and pedagogical capacity for lecturers, and English ability for cadets, to complete textbooks and other materials in English.

Thirdly, conduct research and exchange ideas to come up with the most suitable techniques of teaching in English for a variety of professional areas such as law, psychology and police profession.

“As for the good teaching and learning English and other languages movement, the PPA encourages lecturers to conduct good lectures, draft lectures, to participate in the Contest of good teaching in English in the Academy, to further organize similar contests in the coming year as well as other contests such as good foreign language study, students’ participation in scientific research in English”, the Vice President of the PPA also affirmed.
