New contributions of the thesis:

This thesis is systematically and comprehensively research on preventing environmental crime and violation in the management of solid waste in urban area according to the function of the Environmental Police Force in Vietnam. The new contributions of the thesis are summarized as followed: 

- The thesis analyses the theoretical background and legal framework for urban, the management of solid waste in urban area, preventing environmental crime and violation in the management of solid waste in urban area according to the function of the Environmental Police Force. It includes: Concept of urban area; concept, characteristics and classification of solid waste in urban area; concept, characteristics, contents, methods and coordinating relations between Environmental Police Force and other forces in preventing environmental crime and violation in the management of solid waste in urban area.

- The thesis investigates into the operation of the Environmental Police Force in preventing environmental crime and violation in the management of solid waste in urban area; and the coordination between Environmental Police Force and other law enforcement agencies in preventing environmental crime and violation in the management of solid waste in urban area in the last 10 years. It also identifies the strengths and limitations of these operations and explaining the causes of those limitations. 

- The thesis forecasts the trend of crime in the next few years, thus identifies factors influencing the efficiency in preventing environmental crime and violation in the management of solid waste in urban area according to the function of the Environmental Police Force in Vietnam in the coming time. Accordingly, the thesis proposes seven solutions in order to enhance the efficiency of this operation in Vietnam.
